The HEL Performance in-line oil cooler thermostat has been designed to regulate optimal engine oil temperature when incorporating an external oil cooler into the system. This solution is perfect for applications that are limited to only using a non-thermostatic oil filter sandwich plate, due to clearance constraints when using a thermostatic version. To suit various driving styles and requirements, we offer a choice of three temperature thermostats; 82°C, 92°C and 102°C, ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of oil to your external oil cooler at the desired temperature. Thanks to its compact design, our in-line thermostat can be universally mounted to a variety of bulkheads, chassis components, and custom projects with space limitations. This innovative thermostat not only accelerates warm-up times but also eliminates the risk of overcooling, ensuring optimal operating temperature.
Approximately 10% of the oil is in constant circulation through the oil cooler at all times, maintaining a consistent flow that serves two crucial purposes: to prevent the formation of air pockets and to act as a protective shield against thermal shock to the system. The surplus oil is then routed back to the engine or through the internal bypass system, promoting faster warm-up and eliminating the risk of overcooling.
Located in the base of the unit, we've integrated a handy 1/8" NPT thread that's suitable for most commonly used oil temperature and oil pressure sensors. Should you choose not to install a sensor, an NPT port plug is included as standard practice to effectively seal the thread. Mounting the thermostat in place is a simple process thanks to two elongated mounting holes, suitable for a variety of M6 hardware.
Featuring four M22 x 1.5 threaded inlet and outlet ports, our in-line thermostat can be easily adapted with M22 x 1.5 to -8 (AN08) or -10 (AN10) male adapters, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of AN hose and fittings.
If required, the thermostatic valve can be removed and replaced with an alternative temperature thermostat.
