Displayed in the Toyo Treadpass is this Audi built by Shawn Bassett, owner of Attacking the Clock Racing. Inspired by Audi’s IMSA 90 Quattro GTOs (check out those AeroDiscs on the BC Forged wheels), the all-carbon body is 10 inches wider than stock and gets a wing-heavy, time-attack and hill-climb-friendly aero treatment. 

“There’s a tremendous amount you have to do for a ’90s car to compete with modern Porsche GT3s on a road course,” he continues, and to that end, Bassett proceeded to build a dedicated Pikes Peak racer that incorporates myriad custom and one-off components.

2021 has been a busy year for Shawn Bassett. He finished a complete rebuild of his Datsun 240Z then took it to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to tick another item off his bucket list. It was at the 2021 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb that we finally got a chance to take a closer look at this one-off, unique build.

For Shawn Bassett, what started out as a cheap way into Z-car trackday fun has turned into a balls-out carbon-clad Pikes Peak monster! This is his LS-swapped Datsun 240Z.
